Nice never experienced -10 thanks very much but the winds would be the worst with that stay warm not much you can in that weather other than running around nude in it would be invigorating and the shrinkage

 

Ok.......found at the GW yesterday and almost missed....but I always look twice.
These were on the rotating pin and earring rack and were at the bottom and tipped over because they're heavy.
At first I thought they were Batmobile wheels but they are not. Those are Rader wheels, these are Hurst.
Though there were repros in 2000...these are NOT those.
Yes, I know this.
They are not marked sterling but they are. None were marked.
Together they weigh 0.9 ounces with the clips, of course, of which I don't know if they are sterling or not.
The are bumped up I know though that is all but invisible to the naked eye.
Only 500 sets were to be made in '67-'68 and unknown if all were sold.
Last known sale was 2011 for $350.

Are you sure those aren't cufflinks? That's probably what the store staff thought to have placed them with other jewelry pieces.

 

I didn't say they were anything else.
Just where they were displayed.
I did use the word clips for I didn't know what else to call them....bars?

 

And I didn't know what you meant by "clips." Since you went on and on about toy car wheels and said "these are Hurst," how are we supposed to know that you thought them to be anything else?

 

Those are cuff links all right; I'd cheerfully wear them, but fancy rims are mostly guy territory. Today I hit three stores and found two items, neither of which I could buy because someone had neglected to put a price on them.

It was about -3C here today, but with similar winds. Pretty darned chilly. My find of the day was free hot coffee and a donut.

Cool cufflinks. They must have been a pain to polish - looks like textured metal on the front as well as the back (different textures)

This is a set of very rare Hurst Sterling Silver Cufflinks. There were 500 sets of these made in the middle 60's by "Doc" Watson of Hurst-Campbell to celebrate the design of a new Hustler forged wheel. Over the years many off these cufflinks have been lost and they are very hard to come by. If you are a Hurst collector, then these cufflinks could be the center piece of your Hurst collection.

That was one bit of info I saw. I’ve not yet heard from the Hurst collector guru. He did wish an opportunity to buy that set asked about back then.
The repros are different on the back either intentionally or just wasn’t worth matching.

This morning's finds:
Elevator floor-indicator-thingy. It's upside-down - but only because it wouldn't play nice and balance on its curved edge. Wish it had its arrow pointer ... but they seem to still sell without them. Very heavy! Technically yesterday's find ... wanted to sleep on it plus make sure there was some interest in this type of thing.


My husband found these decoys for $10/ea. when he went to buy that ^^^^
He could tell that they were genuine/use-able (not just decorative) but couldn't see, until he got them home in better light, that carved into the underside was a name, town, and date. Seems that R.Madison Mitchell is a pretty well know carver and painter. They'll be staying with us for a few years at least ... should look nice with our old iron 'sink box' canvasback
