Anything special about these beads

Hi all think they are plastic and have some sort of religious theme to them any thoughts chris

 

It looks like a mala bracelet with too much cord.
Mala bracelets are the simplified version of the Buddhist mala, which is used for prayer and meditation. The mala has 108 beads and a bigger 'guru bead', which connects with the divine principle.
The concept of a mala is related to that of Catholic rosaries and Islamic tasbih. Greek worry beads look somewhat similar, they are a derivative of the tasbih.

 

My first thought too. Do you know the type of seed or seed pod these beads are meant to resemble?

 

I think they could be meant to resemble Chinese Heidao carving, which could be done on any nut.

Sorry Chris. I agree with AJ. Nothing special here, but no harm in checking.

 

The cord probably was elastic originally. Temperature changes and old age may have had their way.

 

Of course, why didn't I think of that.
