An old diamond ring in yellow gold and white gold or platinum. No marks.. One of the shoulders are broken.. Any info on age and the quality of diamonds? I'm guessing Victorian?

    Thanks all...

A very pretty ring, Kavinda, the damage is not too bad and can be repaired.
Likely Edwardian. The shape of the head is called navette, French for shuttle.
The diamonds could be old European cut, but I can't see the backs of the stones very well.

I think you will need to take it to a jeweler to get info on quality of the stones. I don't think anyone can tell from a photo.

Thanks AJ :) Found out more about the style and age by searching for 'Navette' ...

Absolutely, we would have to see them in person, go over them with a loupe, etc. Taking them to a jeweler is easier and less costly than taking a round the world trip to show all of us.;)
