Yep, I know....I grew up there too.....even tho a bit earlier than you, but I don't remember being criticized for writing in red......it was just understood that, that color was reserved for the teachers' remarks......

I wrote a lot and so I may have done that and one teacher told me this.
    It imprinted deeply. :)

FINALLY! A church sale this morning with a "jewelry" table .... I just about fell over. The wood block is from last night. That's for a friend - Nurmberg Germany ... 75 cents. A few bits of costume are sitting on it. Next up is some of the silver and the gold. The little round ones didn't look like much, but I'm pretty sure they're 18k. The next shot shows a 14k and enamel pin with real stones and a gold scarab ring. The next one...lousy shot but...eep. The big necklace at the bottom is spiny oyster and 950 silver. The two silver cuffs weigh a ton; the one with the 18k accents cost a packet originally. The frog...dunno. Might be silver and might not. No marks. The back is almost better. The next pin is a mystery. No marks, and a face that I think is West Coast indigenous. The last one is the back of the frog. No marks, just that elaborate detail. The round thingie is a Kirk Steiff sterling perfume atomizer.

The one that I tried on and am still feeling the nerves complaining about the whacking they took getting it off? It's signed John Atencio. The one with the pearls was glommed by my 87 year-old mother. I may get it back....

It went on fairly easily, but it took some finagling to make it leave. Reminds me of US Senators.

Holy moly @evelyb30 !!! :jawdrop: Your church people donate very generously where you are ... that's a great score!! I really like those cuff bracelets ... and that pin with the face!!! Around here, church bazaars are usually a bust ... ya gotta wait for the folks to die to see the goodies ... hence, great estate sales and thrift shop donations ;)

This is my third church sale in a month or so, and the first one with any real goodies. Hit the old main line denomination sales and you find stuff. Here the good ones are all in Episcopal churches. The Congregationalists and Methodists don't seem to let much get loose.

Some women don't, but there's no rule about it unless you're Brethren or Mennonite or the like.

I use Mennen...because it doesn’t have aluminum in it.

    Is that the same???

Not exactly....unless you also wear a black suit and drive a horse and wagon. Old Order Mennonites don't use Old Spice; I'm not sure about Mennen.
