OK ... Here it is. Here's what I think I see ... a post 1986 Polish 925 hallmark with a "P" for Poznan. A smooshed maker's mark. I can tell that's an opal, but not sure about the green ... we used to sell pieces with what were called 'green onyx' in them that looked like this, but what other stones are possible?

I've taken lot's of photos of the unidentified mark in hopes that it rings a bell with someone ... there must be someone on this forum who collects modern Polish jewelry, right???? ;) :)

What is that metal treatment called? Hammered? Distressed? Textured?

I don't think it's quite Samorodok, but that might fit. "Striated" for the gold bit? Brutalist overall?

Thanks for some more search words, MOS!
"Samorodok" ... cool word. Probably not for this ring, though. I'm actually familiar with the process because I purchased a pair of earrings about 25 years ago at a Sugarloaf Craft Festival and I asked the artist how she achieved the texture on the silver ... she described the process, but I don't remember her using that term (but ... I don't remember a lot of things!) I hardly ever wear them because I hate to polish them .... see?

Love the ring. I'd call it textured, the gold bit looks a bit like brushed, but isn't.
The green stone is probably green agate. I don't think it is chrysophrase, that is more of a bluish green.

My first thought was also chrysoprase, but agree: wrong shade of green & more likely to be dyed chalcedony.

My thermal conductivity thingy (diamond tester) says it's glass. I compared it to the results on an agate of roughly the same size.

Glass is 5 on the Mohs scale, isn't it? Green variscite is also 5 and can be translucent as well as opaque. Opaque variscite is more common.
Variscite is found in Germany, could be in Poland as well. Not that it has to be a local stone.

great ring.......I'd say MCM design......the work on the gold...I'd call etched ....& the texture on the silver .......on the tip of my tongue......ARGH...more coffee !!!

I'd call it MINE if it showed up! The stone is dead right for chrysoprase as I know it. It gets called green onyx a lot in older pieces. It may be dyed, but value-wise it really doesn't matter. The money in this one is in that modern design. The silver is oxidized or japanned to that finish. I'd call the gold part textured and leave it at that.

Yes Textured.......and I said as much...but didn't realize I was using the right word.
    Now that the coffee.......has settled in......Textured,,,,,,,yup !
    ( for the silver,,,anyways..) ;)

Hmmm .... when I first saw it I thought it looked like a modern-medieval-viking-style ... but I can't really search for the maker with those words.

Thanks AJ ... I'll have to check that out. I'm only familiar with variscite that resembles green turquoise.

Sodalite comes in a translucent form, it's rarer, so I suppose variscite could too.

Lol, missed that... I was fixated by the photos. But at least we agree! I do love that opal...

Hey ... that's a great term! I googled it and saw lots of rings with the same texture as the gold part of mine.
    Thanks Miky!!!
I'll play around with that term for a bit and see what I can find.

    made to resemble tree bark...
it still takes etching to do that....
