My latest thrift store find.I got it because - to me - it looks like it was done by a really good artist & should be known. The cabin is what got me; the run down look makes me think it could be a photograph of a real one!
I took a close up of it for you to see the details of the cabin (the fact that it's so small & still the peeling paint and old roof are so detailed amazes me!)

1st - is it that good or am I wrong & it's just a factory painting?

2nd - can anyone make out the signature? I can see 52 at the end & what looks like SCI right before the date/number?

I'd appreciate any help with this one; I'd like to see if the artist is listed/known and as good as I thought (I've been wrong before so don't feel bad telling me if I think this is good then you have a bridge to sell me!)

    Thanks all

There's a Thomas Kincade quality to it. Only the ramshackle cabin saves it.

Sorry, but I think this is factory art. It's a stock composition and the paint application is all speed over finesse.

Kincade is who I was thinking of too, but couldn't remember - bhat's definitely not his signature

Who would build a cabin under and behind such a group of trees as would obliterate the view of that mountain?

    It's a painting - oil on canvas

They built cabins like that for protection - especially in those winters! Anything that helped block the wind & would also help retain a fire's heat was desirable

i agree it is on canvas, but until you have the paint tested , you can't say it is oil . I had one appraiser tell me my chair has enamel paint on it , after i told him the paint was tested from mr biro and told him the results .
