There's some resemblance to a laurel wreath with an olive branch inside it, but that would be very western symbolism, so I doubt it's correct. I don't know if it would be any easier to see if you took an impression. The legs of the bird look too short to be a crane's; goose or swan?

Is it silver? I thought maybe Chinese because of the tiger. Neat looking thing.

Is it marked for silver, or have you tested it?

The Merlion is the symbol of Singapore, it has a fish body and the head of a lion (singa):

Looks like your Merlion does have a fish tail, and it seems to rise up from the water. I like it.:)

    Tweaked this photo:

silver is a great conductor......take an ice cube .place it on silver..it immediately will begin to melt at a fast rate...do the same with a typical spoon on any other metal..you wont see the ice melt as fast.....(

Ah! Thanks. Good to know. I knew a sterling teaspoon in the cup was a good way to cool off a cup of tea.

I still see a laurel wreath, although no more olives. Does it have the same meaning in Asia? Or is there another kind of leaf that signifies victory?
