image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg I bought four pictures today from the flea market. I couldn't walk away from these. I believe it reads "Hand Colored Copies" written in pen in the bottom right corner. One is Paris, Moulin Rouge. The others, I can't read the titles.

The first is Neuschwanstein, in Bavaria. The last looks to be the Matterhorn in Switzerland. They could be prints with color added.

Can you post closeups of the lower right of the two you haven't shown? They might be clearer.

Here they are, plus more close pictures. As I look at these closer, I'm getting a feeling that they aren't copies. I do believe I'm reading "Original Watercolor ???? in the lower right hand corner.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I'm reading the lower right as "Original hand colored" followed by what might be a name (since I can't make it out). I don't think it's the word "copies" as it appears to start with a capital P.

I see it now. I though that the last word started with a "P" then maybe an "H" then "NER"? I got all these for $15.

The one of Matterhorn, I believe is of the Commons Getty.

Sorry to be so long getting back (long phone call from a dear friend), but I see you've already gotten the straight scoop from Fig (with which I concur.)

No worries. When I get to talking with my mom, it's a never ending phone call. Thank you though for replying back.

Since it possibly says Original Hand Colored, does this mean it's a watercolor painting and not a print that had colors added afterwards? I'm still trying to learning about colored etchings and so forth and so on.

Good question. My own take (which obviously is subject to the downside of not having them in hand) is that they might be etchings (all the black outlines and details) that have been watercolored over. The corner showing how the sky has gotten out past the edge sure looks like watercolor to me.

They are clearly hand colored prints...prints with colors added...although the precise print medium is difficult to determine from these photographs. You'd need to see more of the sheet outside the image.

Is there a platemark at the periphery of the image area? If so, etchings. If not, plate lithographs.

It's hard to tell. Am I correct by saying that these are original pieces, no matter the method of printing, etching or litho, was used?

Could the artist be Paul Geisller. I've compared so signatures of his with mine and, even though mine isn't fully written out, there are some possible similarities. Paul Geissler was well known for his hand colored etchings in Europe.

I don't see anything remotely like a G in that mess at the end. But I suppose nothing should be overlooked at this point.

I just found two more online saying the artist is Pfilzer. They have each piece at $79 each I believe. Still trying to find info on said artist. This is one of the pieces they have listed.

I think I may have the other 6 pieces from this collection that I also bought at a flea market. After searching the internet for the artist name, I came across your post. I also couldn't make out the artist name but it does look like Pfilzer now that I'm reading some comments on this thread. Also I thought they were originals but but I also have a copy of the Neuschwanstein Castle. Its slightly different but almost identical which makes me think it's prints with watercolor added afterward. Not sure though. I'm going to try and upload them but don't know how to do it from my phone.
