I have no idea who painted these or why, but they're very large - about 2 feet x 3 feet on one and 3'x3' on the other. They were in a pile going to the dump at the end of the day and I took them. They were so ugly, I had to have them. They aren't hanging up, though!

    Hi Bev,
What can I say except the 2nd one reminds me of "The Scream"

Your obvious market is the local prison, or a retired jailer.

It is hard to imagine a damp patch on the wall that would not look more attractive.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I like the "aura" around the guy in the second painting.

Bev - Did you get these recently or have you shown them previously? They look soooooo familiar.

I put these up on Ebay forums awhile ago. Or was it here? My mind is gone. I was up all night sniffling about the cat and was online at 5 am for distraction.

Okay, so they DID make it to the dump and I snagged them coming out of the car "boot" into the gift house. :p

I've also seen worse. These almost look like comic book art.

They would last about five minutes in our local urban thrift --just have sort of a in-your-face quality, the sheer size alone.

Don't tar and feather me, but I think they are kind of interesting. The 2nd even has some humor --Eddie Haskell meets The Scream? (thank you Greg, for "The Scream" reference.)

Not exactly my thing, but even that Bev saved them from the dump.... they do have a certain...something.

Sean Penn in about five years, and a vampire teenager from one of those bad movie serials?

I say they aren't the best paintings but I'm very open minded. I see art as someone's expressions, feelings. Someone did the best that they could on these and took pride in doing so, even if they don't stand to fine art quality. If it was me, I would hang them to give credit to whoever did these, they deserve it. Who knows, it may have been the first attempt at painting, never know.

Nice. Good job on saving someone's hard work and time. I would of snagged them too.

I'm taking advantage of my insomnia by catching up on posts that I missed. skeezix's link to MOBA brought back fond memories of my many visits to MOBA while waiting to use the rest room at the Dedham Theater. I was very sad to see it close. The curator's commentary really makes it worth the visit.

I thought I would point out the generous reward they are still offering for the return of the stolen painting "Irene". You might luck out and find it on one of your thrift store runs. Just think what you could do with the reward. Here is the link:
