This a lot of what I found today. An old hatchet that looks like it's older than dirt. The company started in 1923, so it's just old. The inlaid box isn't all that old either, but it's nice. The red rectangle is a hard plastic slide viewer. The little metal bits are a child's toy dishes from the 1930s. Not shown are a stack of negatives from the late 40s found with a drug store envelope from Maplewood NJ. That's the town my Dad grew up in. Weird. The greeting cards were in the same envelope and are all dated 1942 and 1943. I love the black Americana one, as politically incorrect as it is. DSCF7146.JPG DSCF7147small.jpg DSCF7149small.jpg

If they did, someone would picket the publisher ... or sue them.

Estwing still makes those hatchets. There may be a way to determine actual age but I don’t know it.

Gotta love Estwing products, still well made - Mom has my Grandfather's hammer (he died in '61), and I've picked up a couple of others over the years, they're a pleasure to use, though none have that familiar feel of Grandpa's...

Stopped at a church rummage sale on Thursday, late morning after a doctor's appointment, but still came home with two bags of stuff for a whole four dollars - nothing of great value, but did find a little leather hat for a quarter, 1940 version of this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Boy-Scouts-of-America-1939-Leather-Hat-Merit-Badge-Show-/372045836518?hash=item569fa8f0e6%3Ag%3AhNEAAOSwcEtZkxrq&nma=true&si=UpSDAzFkOKX667TL9gimJiWOfYo%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
