Got this coat the other day and still can't find out what military it is.

Navy, Army, Marines etc. The inside tag of jacket is made by Davis.

    Thank You 003.JPG

    US Navy Chief Storekeeper.
It is an eagle though we call it a 'crow'. :)
Even though they are termed Petty 'Officers' a Chief is not an officer. They are 'enlisted' sailors.
    ~
    Chief no star.
Senior Chief 1 star above eagle.
Master Chief 2 stars above eagle.
Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy 3 gold stars above eagle plus 1 where the 'rating' would be. In this case where the keys are.
There is only ever one of these chiefs in the entire navy except for those retired.

Does it have any 'hash marks' on the left sleeve?
Surely it does and probably 3 at least.
    Possibly 2.

Hi King, sorry for late reply. I was so busy today taking my Dad to Doctors then back to nursing home, then running errands for my Sister, dang what a long day.
Anyways, I had no idea you where retired Navy, very cool man, that's awesome.
Thanks for your information on this, here's some more pics. Has pants and belt with his light grey gloves, throw me a value if you can... 045.JPG 047.JPG

You’re welcome though I didn’t retire out. Wish I had. It’s a short long story why I did not. :(

Each of the hash marks on the sleeve represent 4 years of good conduct service so those represent at least 16 years and up to a day short of 20.
Value is tough since you have to realize there are many thousands of such uniforms. They are hardly rare. If it were someone of note then that would help. Maybe you could get $30 for it.
It looks in such great shape perhaps you have a museum nearby that might wish to have it or a theatre group that would like to have and respect it.
I still have all my uniforms sans my patent leather ‘inspection’ shoes which I sold or gave away since I would never have a use for them again.
Yes, I know, I have my uniforms. ;)
I have a theatre group here that may wish to have it but only as a donation. They don’t have any money. Most don’t and even act for free because they simply want to act.

Wow, good story. Only 30 for the coat belt pants and gloves, I have the white hat also.

    Thanks. :)
This uniform has a nice dress cap not a white hat and Chiefs don’t wear them at all. May have been hers or his prior to attaining Chief.
    Where is the dress hat?

Why would a Chief wear a Dixie cup hat?

Ok... that’s a Senior Chief’s anchor on the hat. 1 Star.
So this hat, termed ‘cover’, is not correct for this uniform and vice versa.

No worries here King, it's all good. I'm just wondering if this cap went with this suit.

    See above.
    Correct style, wrong insignia.

Okay Thanks, I had that feeling since I got it today. There's been lots of military stuff coming into that thrift store and I try to grab it all.

    Little FYI.
Navy does not salute without ‘cover’ on. Inside buildings and ships, cover is not worn.
The only oddity to this seems to be vehicles though I think this may be optional.
When I drove for my first ship’s Captain we both wore our cover in the car.

    No?
    Simply put.
Navy personnel do not wear hats indoors.
Without a hat salutes cannot be rendered.
The Army will salute.....at the drop of a hat.
    ;)

Also - are those gloves gray? Should be white. I'm also confused about the label - Davis Clothing Co? That is not a real military uniform label. 20140128_173338_preview.jpg

Here is a gaggle of Chiefs, Sr. Chiefs, and Master Chiefs. One of them is mine. ;)
