Does anyone think this Sevres porcelain mark is fake? Or have any insight on this mark?
I can find similar under Vincennes in my search, but not this particular mark.
I read there were a lot of fakes done.
I thought about taking it to an appraiser but wanted to get opinions from everyone first.
    Any thoughts are appreciated!

I'm no authority on Sevres marks, you've probably had a good look around at them already anyway ...however, the piece is very nice quality and Sevres style - if you are thinking this is from the early 18thc, it isn't - the gilding is unmistakable on those very old pieces and isn't as refined and uniform as what we see on yours, plus the old ones are in that very sugary french soft paste.
That said however, Sevres was produced for a very long time and the early paste was superceded not too very long after.
Nice jug, no idea about mark without digging though, sorry!

If it is Sevres, the M indicates 1765. The painting is certainly of a high standard so nothing screaming fake.

Don't know for authenticity of the mark... but, sadly, that glued foot in first pic is worrying for a good value:arghh:

    Thank you!
I found it at a thrift store 3-4 months ago and have searched off and on about it.
There's not too much info I can find.

I'm suspicious when I do an image search and so many well-preserved jugs from the 1700s pop up.

Well, when I was doing my search, it was of the maker mark with the M. When I typed in vintage Sevres (sometimes Vincennes) porcelain ceramic marks, it brought up time era tables of the makers marks. In those tables some state the M as 1778 and another states that it's 1765.
    That's where that comes from.
I wasn't going off of images actually.

Thinking more about what you said, that's the most difficult part about this LOL.
So what time era does everyone think it could be?

If it is a genuine piece of Sevres, I think it would take an examination by a specialist and I mean a REAL specialist in that factory's productions to place it in time. I also believe any serious appraisal would have to be done with the piece in one's hands.

I know that's not of much help, but all of us long-term antique dealers have a group of "wonder-what-it-really-is pieces" in our collections that we keep on the back shelf, hoping to maybe one day identify them correctly. I know I do!
