P1070796.jpg P1070798.jpg My bloke has always rated this piece, which has hung around in dark places for decades. I gave it a polish yesterday and really don't know what these marks mean or if it is silver or plate. I can establish that JTH over JTM is John Thomas Heath & John Hartshorne Middleton, Birmingham, and that the mark was registered in 1887. The three curved glass dishes (one of which now sports the smallest chip) are more impressive than the stand, I think, which is stamped 18020. Should I carry on polishing and treat it as a circa 1900 treasure or offload it at the next market stall?

Small "f" 1905 I believe. Very modern lines aren't they?

Hope springs ... I am firing off emails to posh UK dealers who might have chip-grinding tools, Komokwa. It's been a lucky week for me, I'm delighted to say. I must hurry and buy a lottery ticket.
