I’ve had this for a while (and possibly have posted it before but I can’t remember if a conclusion was reached, don’t judge , my memory is shot and I didn’t write it down :sorry:) but I don’t think I ran a UV light over it. Is this likely to be synthetic something?.Mary Contrary announces it is sapphire .
Set in 9ct.?. The stone is a good size at around 1.25cm long.
    Thankyou for looking :)

Oh, I cannot figure out why it was not popular. Purple is my favorite color and I think it is beautiful!

I knew you would be back into that closet again. :) Now you're making it your second home. Remember keep the naughty bits to a minimum if you can. It can make a mess of your wardrobe. :D:D:D:D

    And she is right.
Not always, but they can. Natural purple and violet sapphires can fluoresce a strong red. Synthetic purple and violet sapphires fluoresce a strong red, or blue.

I don't know if UK jewellers would put a natural sapphire in 9ct gold instead of a higher fineness. It seems odd to me, but wdik, 9ct isn't recognized as gold here.

I agree and am assuming this is synthetic for that very reason but just curious about differentiating between man made and natural ones.
That’s absolutely fine, please feel free to send any such rubbish to me for safe disposal :p:hilarious::hilarious:

    I can't, you can't get it here.:playful:
And as some newbies tell us, rare equals valuable.:D

I’m sure I’ve got a few corkers around the house to sell then!.
Mostly of the ‘rare due the sudden realisation of what a truly dreadful, stupendously ugly or useless item we produced so we didn’t make any more’ variety!.

Thanks for posting this KSW! I have a box of "stones" and can't yet afford a gem tester. I was wondering if I could use a UV light to pull out any potential gems in the meantime.

I can't believe I was just thinking about this a couple of days ago and now you posted this site.
