image.jpg View attachment 7179 image.jpg My wife and I stopped at a local small ma and pa thrift store here in Oklahoma. I was looking at their art prints and noticed a painting tucked behind a bunch of junk. I seen that it had ducks in the painting. I maneuvered the junk around to get to the painting. I realized it was a original oil painting. I could make out the last name of Basset but didn't know the first. I did a quick search on my phone for "Bassett Duck Paintings". To my surprise, the first listing showed a painting by Reveau. I then knew that was the first name I couldn't make out. The listing had a painting from him that was sold at auction for $1,250. I couldn't get the money out of my pocket any faster. I hate that I got it at such a steal, but my thinking is, if you're selling it, do a little research.

    The dimensions are 8 x 10.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Looks like his paintings are very collectible, especially in his home area around Dallas, Texas. Congratulations!

It appears that his "Ducks in Flight" paintings are some of favorite ones.

    I just read where a painting from Reveau, a 10 x 8, sold for nearly $6k in 2006! I'm stoked!

Sorry about not taking a pic of the verso. I'll take on of the entire painting in the original frame also. It's oil on canvas board, which Bassett used a lot. There's writing also on the verso, looks like it could possible be a name from the previous owner.

Like the pun. Thank you. I must be because that painting had been at that thrift shop for some time. That's what the owner said. Like I said, I hate that I got it at such a steal. The owner was counting pennies and quarters from a dresser that he just got from an auction, unaware of this valuable painting under his nose.

I suspect that this painting was framed under glass shortly after it was done. For being old, this painting has vibrant colors. There's hardly any, if none, discoloration. It's just beautiful.

Thank you. It really does POP. The framing and matting, helps zero in on the colors.

Well, I'm taking this to an appraiser after the beginning of year to get it appraised for insurance value. The good thing is, the appraiser had looked up Basset, all she needs to do is verify it is his, I have no doubt it is, and look at the condition, size and subject.
