The mark says it is 1863 if I go by the Wedgwood dates by letters. I can’t seem to find another like it. It does not attract a magnet Would you say trinket, jewelry box, either or neither? Any info and opinions are very appreciated.

    Edited
I did find them after I image searched it again just now but none with the Wedgwood Insert

I did find an antique bronze gilt vanity box with something else in the insert on 1st sobs but they are always ridiculous in price and I don’t just want to copy without first asking for help.
    Ty anyone, everyone

Are you sure the inset is Wedgwood? Others made similar designed and used a number. It looks like it is marked Wedgwood?

I turned the image, cropped it and played with the exposure. Looks like it says Wedgwood to me but I can't say if it is their mark or not.

I suspect some jiggery pokery going on there judging by the glue residue and solder.
    May be a marriage.

Google brass Wedgwood box for similar.

I did, nothing comes up but it is a dead-on match to the bronze French gift boxes I see online

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

According to this page, the date letters on Wedgwood were repeated. The R can be either 1863 or 1889. http://www.thepotteries.org/mark/w/wedgwood-date.html

This page on the same site shows examples of the word "WEDGWOOD" in marks. This looks like the typical mark they used for a long time:

Also, I notice that the inserted jasperware piece does not fit correctly into the setting. So along with the glue, something seems amiss here. (Unless it was a factory reject...)

    Hi

I know they reused the letters but I thought since there was the absence of England that it would be the first go around

I think England was after 1891. Might be misremembering, though. It's probably in those links I posted somewhere.

I looked it up myself. That’s how I came up with the possible date. Looking up the box itself I found other examples dating to the same time period but with other inserts. I was just hoping someone else would recognize the box and have more info. I’m always afraid to go with what I find online in case that person is wrong. I have since found a few more boxes but without the Wedgwood center
