Lustreware?

Any info about this please? I'm not sure it can be called lustreware as there is so little of it featured. I'm guessing 19 th century. It's more of a shallow dish rather than a plate. 8 ins diameter, nearly 2ins deep. The transfer printing subject is a bit odd too. He seems to be telling her to go elsewhere, the pagodas, their faces etc. thanks ~ hopefully this posts ok, I had a bit of a blip loading pics.

 

I don't see any of the iridescence that characterizes lustreware.

Were it not for the pagodas in the background, I would think this was a version of 'Rebecca at the Well'.

Is it earthenware or porcelain?

Aha, I've just found a matching cup and saucer, described as "bone china". The seller notes that the same print is shown in Michael Gibson's 1999 book "19th Century Lustreware".

Wow, thankyou architrave, it's a match. All the info I'll need, even explaining the pagodas. I'm not sure of the material, if you hold it up to the light you can see the transfer from the back. From the weekend Jumble/rummage for 50pence.
