The historic German town of Worms is not only known for the terra sigilata, but also for the Diet of Worms.......

As a result of the Diet (imperial assembly, Holy Roman Empire) of Worms of 1521, the Edict of Worms was issued against Martin Luther.
In 1517 Martin Luther had written his 95 theses, mainly addressing the corrupt practices of the Roman Catholic Church. Although he was by no means the first to address these, his theses are generally seen as the start of the Reformation, a schism in the Church which ML had not intended.
In 1520 the pope reiterated by issuing a Papal bull in which he described 41 mistakes in the theses and other claims made by Martin Luther. A year later ML was put before the Diet of Worms, to explain himself, and preferably renounce his theses.
After a long discussion/trial, he is said to have spoken the famous words "here I stand, I can do no other" (often quoted by yours truly in totally unrelated matters). There is no proof he ever made that statement, however.

I know, this has nothing to do with the terra sigilata, I just enjoy talking about the Diet of Worms.:D
It only sounds good in English, by the way.
