And some of their letters to each other were down-right steamy! :shame:

If the couples weren't that fond of each other, royalty would have their heir and a spare and stay in separate rooms thereafter. Victoria and Albert had a spare, a spare for the spare, and an extra just in case. Not to mention girls as backup. I think she kinda dug him. :)

Went to an estate auction yesterday. Found some good stuff. Could have gotten a lot more if I had room for it. Lots of dealers bulking up their inventory. A really nice cherry buffet sold for $70, great deal easily worth several times that, but I don't have the room. Acquired a really nice cherry china cabinet that I don't have pics of yet. Got some vintage postcards shown in the other thread at a nice price.

Was planning on attending another auction in the evening after the first but got tired and had already spent enough $$$!

Jumble sale, one of the recent better ones. This is Helen, sadly unsigned. Probably 50s as a friend advises due to the sloped shoulders

I envy the Murray, although I do have a piece of his glass. The tureen is Susie Cooper, hm?

You scored! Gotta love jumble sales. We call the church ones rummage sales locally, because one goes and has a rummage around in the jumbled items.

I have a gray moggie, but she's a tabby rather than a blue. (never seen a rue moggie)

Not pewter. Hard. Maybe aluminum zinc mix like armetale.

I thought maybe there was a gold nugget in the baggie, but it was just a horny pig

Wow such impressive finds. Love all the goodies shown here. Always learning too.

Never was to the towers in Manhattan. But I surely did enjoy my summers working diagonally across the street from Madison Square Garden and a block away from Macys Herald Square.

Forgot about this thread... some of your great finds make mine look like very meagre pickings! I struggle to find anything interesting in our charity shops these days. I suspect they have wised up and the good stuff goes straight online.

Anyway, this morning's wander unearthed a trio that were a) cheap and b) got my attention. Especially the painted box. It's about 10cm tall x 15cm wide. I've googled and can see similar painted signs but no boxes. Does anyone know anything about this? It looks like vintage advertising to me :)

The little metal trinket(?) box I just thought was cute. Made from three colours of metal and has a lot of wear. A tourist/mass produced piece, or something else? I remember seeing similar items in the 70s:

And the print of King George VI looks original. 1930s I would have thought. I took it out of the frame where (horror of horrors!) it had been sellotaped to a piece of card. I don't know if it's saleable or not but I like it anyway, just for the social history :).

    Hey Bats....nice finds !
The box looks home made...but.....any other markings on it ?
The photo is nice....to bad about the tape but a Monarchist may still want it !
Pop the top off the metal box so we can see what's inside ....
