A few more finds from this week so far, I got 4 German 1800s marbles and an old toothpaste bottle and a fantastic spinning top, and a nice pot lid.

Sorry no photos, can't upload them I will try again later.

I've just been cleaning all the brass parts with some Brasso. Could you ever get yours to spin? I think there might be something missing on mine or its not been assembled correctly.

Ahh so thats what that small hole is for in the post, I was thinking that maybe it would have had some string. I'm not very clued up on gyro toupies. I was spinning it like a spinning top but it just flumps over. I will have to look up on how to use one of these.

I just looked up a video of how to use it and I put some string on it but it doesn't have enough spin, its probably a bit to worn after all these years.

I put some lube on it after cleaning it. I think there maybe a missing nut where the top screw is to stop the screw moving as the middle part spins. Its a nice display piece either way, just out of interest how old is it?

I'll probably add a small brass nut to it but other than that I don't think there is much else I can do to it. Its got that sorta 50s look to it I would have never of thought it was so late but it will look the part mixed in with my Victorian stuff, I may end up selling it on at some point and look for something thats a bit older.

My dad had one looking a lot like that. I never could get it to spin properly either.

I restrung the angelskin corals two nights ago. The half clasp that was left tests as 10K and looked good enough that I reused it as a pendant. Added a sterling one to the back and hand-knotted the beads onto waxed linen.

This is one I made a while ago - my sister is getting it for Christmas. The frog is ivory; I think he's a netsuke but since he's ivory I couldn't sell him ... and didn't want to anyway. My sister and I have a long-running gag about her and frogs. DSCF4940.JPG
