An interesting bit from Lehner's is that the eagle over the prostrate lion symbolized the end of British domination in the dinnerware field, used before 1900. I hadn't even noticed the lion.

I got a deal on a HL book that came today. The shape of your teapot is Rococco, from 1893 (definitely called a teapot in the drawing), p. 42 of Homer Laughlin a Giant Among Dishes.

 

Thanks so much, now I need to find th patern to solve the mystery.

 

This is so old, I don't think that would be documented. Maybe in a different book--this one is not good for patterns.
