Holey aluminum boxes, original purpose?

    Sry link is best I can do, for unknown reason I can no longer get usable jpg link from my Wordpress storage.

    A helper uses these aluminum blocks for wood glueing weights as they weigh 50 lbs. ea. Measurements: 50x20x30 cm. Slots are 45x15mm and 55x15mm. What was their original purpose?

    Ok His Highness wins again! He got the function of these. They are known variously as tombstones or box angle plates. You bolt it to your mill, drill, whatever, and bolt the workpiece to it. It holds the work in proper position so the machine will remove metal in exactly the right places.
