I think copperheads are the most likely right here but there are rattlesnakes within 10 miles but I think they like the rocky hills better than where I am (finger's crossed).

When I was a kid we lived in Tucson. My older brother collected rattles from dead rattlesnakes and skinned at least one. One day he came walking through the house with a live rattlesnake he'd captured in some kind of large glass container held out at the end of a stick. My poor mom about had a heart attack LOL!

    Your place looks pretty awesome!

About 15 months ago our older dog (Good Boy) came in from outside one hot summer afternoon. When he came in I noticed that one side of his face in the cheek area looked swollen. Checked his teeth and they were all there andin fine shape. He didn't seem to be in pain/distress but we rushed him to the veterinarian anyway because the swelling was increasing.

Vet swabbed off the cheek area and found slight traces of blood which DH and I had not seen on the cheek because it is covered in black fur. Vet immediately said "You're going to be looking for a 3-foot copperhead." (Vet kept Good Boy on intravenous fluids and pain meds for 24 hours)

Here's the photo of what the vet described exactly. "This" was hiding under the steps to the back porch where we (and the dogs) go in and out all of the time.

    Hi,
I remember once when I was 13, I was lying out in the grass and a 6ft Copperhead slowly crawled over my chest. I froze thinking he/she was going
to snuggle up to keep warm but he kept going. When he was gone I jumped up and started to shake and ran back into the house.

The first photo is from 2012 when the previous owner had it up for sale. The second is my own photo on laundry day (the rack gets hidden away right behind the chest of drawers).

I struggle not to accumulate clutter in my small condo. I don't have anything "on display" in the lighted side cabinets YET. I will ship / bring a few pieces of art here next trip. The beautiful vase I bought from Anund will come here!

The furniture is the same because I negotiated for it all during the purchase.

It feels good to live in the smaller place without clutter.*smiles*

I have been "lightening my load" on the mainland for many years but too much of my ex-shop stuff came home with me, so I have far to go! I am giving myself a year after I return to the mainland - to liquidate the "lesser" stuff and finish the last of clearing out my ex-shop buildings to eventually sell that property.

This will make my life much easier.:)

Here is my little garter snake pal I found a few months ago...he is in hibernation. He now lives under the hay pallets in a hole. Great mouse trap. :cat:

I guess I am the only one who is still buried in my hoard.

I spent the last week or so,on and off still sorting stuff. I started with my bedroom,I went through my shoes, threw a lot away, sorted out some to give to a friend of mine and for now I am keeping the rest but will sort through them again someday and give or toss more..

I am so exhausted and overwhelmed.I will probably meet my maker before I ever finish. Also going through clothes and down sizing.

Box of shoes in the give away bin, almost looks like an art piece, they are in a blue plastic bin.:p DSCN2512.JPG

Hey - Shiloh - go back to the beginning of the thread. Look at Af's rooms. He did it.
But I know what you mean. When I start to clean up, I feel like I need to organize and sort, and it usually ends up EVEN worse.
Af - give us an update - are your rooms still clutter free?

    Hi Shiloh,
Now all you have to do is build a giant closet to put it all in. I had to get rid of a lot of clothes since I store everything in the closets BUT clothes. Under my living room sofa is a 5' X 3' oval plaster ceiling medallion. It belongs in a giant Victorian room. I have moved it three times now. Everyone wants the foam crap mediallions so the real deals just pile up.

Probably easier to tack the foam stuff to the ceiling so people go that way. Let's face it, many modern houses are made of so much faux stuff it's hard to make the real stuff fit in.

The clearing up has mostly stuck, mainly because I have been in semi hibernation for the winter.

Looking at the pile of shoes it struck me to wonder why women allow themselves to be duped into buying shoes that really amount to no more or less then Chinese foot binding, in another form. They can't be comfortable, they can't be practical, they must do long term damage to the structure of the foot, and they look so damn silly. Not to mention what they do to decks and wood floors. They seem to be designed for the express purpose of preventing women from running away, or at least of allowing very fat and slow old men to catch them.

Top it off with the insane prices that some of these shoe-makers charge for items indistinguishable by any man from far cheaper alternatives, and the old saying 'Il faut souffrir pour etre belle' comes to mind.

Women of the world, stand firm, in something comfy.

I have not worn high heels since 1986, and very rarely before that.

I stand 5' 10" so I never wore anything more than a 1" heel, but the last time I had one on was 9-13-03 for my son's formal evening wedding. :p

I am hoping I can wear something other than my New Balance athletic shoes after I get my knee fixed. Unless I am doing nothing but sitting around I can't even wear my mules which I love. :(
