Thank you again for all your responses, tips and information. I received an email 4 days ago confirming my Antiquers Newsletter subscription, and sent a message last night through "Contact Us,", but maybe I'm not being patient enough and just need to wait for a reply since there's no "Upload a File" button next to Post Reply button. I stumbled onto this website when I was searching for information on my basket and think it's a wonderful resource.

By the way.....this car won Best In Show AND Ladies Choice at the car show I run each year which was this last Wednesday.
Coinkydinkyly...the car on the Ladies Choice trophy...which I made from various things from 1 GW, except for the gold car bought on eBidet, is a 1910 Ford when the winning car is a 1911 Ford! WOW!

Best photo I can get to right now is this one with one of the LC judges holding that trophy.

Well something definitely went wrong in that process, Joan, because, although your member record says you have been a member since Monday, you have no Member Profile (at least it is "not available" when I try to get to it.)

That seems strange. I checked the privacy settings on my Member Profile and "All Visitors" was checked for who can view details on my profile page, although I hadn't entered anything, so I added my location and occupation. I also re-read the email about the newsletter subscription and noticed that I was supposed to confirm my subscription (which I don't think I did on Monday), so I clicked the confirmation button and will see what happens. I tried dragging a photo into this message, but that didn't work, so I think I still don't have a fully activated account. I apologize for taking up so much time and space on this.

You're so kind! I'm going to just wait a couple days now since I'm going to be away over the weekend. I'll check back in a couple of days unless I get an email before then.

Joan - The thing that worries me is that I do not know whether subscribing to the newsletter is the same as becoming a member. I know for sure that I became a member without subscribing, so I know there is no necessary equivalency in that direction. But do you automatically become a member by subscribing? I don't know.

Actually, it just occurred to me that if subscribers automatically become members that would explain the large new of "members" who never post. Let's just hope that the confirmation goes through and straightens things out for you! Have a great weekend!

I first went through the process of joining and then was asked if I wanted to subscribe to the newsletter. It's been 9 days since I joined and still don't have the ability to start a new thread or upload a file, and haven't received a response from the "Contact Us" message I sent last week (I've been checking my Spam folder). I don't mind waiting if I knew at some point in time I'll have full member privileges, but it would be nice to know how long that process takes. In the meantime, I found another old basket that I'd like to post photos of (it's stamped on the bottom "Kerwin Blurton, Elsinore-Mo. Basket" and handwritten "Sandwich Basket $1.00"). The only information I found online was an article published in the Chicago Tribune in 1945, which gave some great details about how the baskets were made. It's made of white oak and hickory hand shaved splits with a solid hickory bottom and a rigid handle. It has the "gaudy" red and green painted design described in the Chicago Tribune article, which apparently was used on the second generation Blurton baskets because they felt "the public demands" it. What I'd like to know is how common are Blurton baskets, whether this one would be desirable, and where a starting bid price should be if I list it on ebay. I appreciate any help that can be provided.

Hi, Joan. I referred your issue to the moderators after our last exchange and I understand the issue has been sent on to the site Administrator. When I last heard from @daveydempsey (a mod) he said that your account request was still out there "unconfirmed." Tagging him here should prompt another look at what is going on.
