image.jpg image.jpg I was going through some jewelry I found and I seen this 14K white gold ring. I don't see any other hallmarks. I was wondering about any ideas on if the jewels are real and possibly the time frame this was done.

The font of the stamp looks fairly recent

Thermal conductivity testers are pretty cheap

I do need to purchase one, I have a couple of rings to test. That's what I was thinking about the font but thought I would ask. Thanks though.

it's an older style cut for an engagement ring , sized to fit a smaller finger.....so not new....i'd say.

The stone could be anything, so just a diamond tester won't do. What if it is a white emerald? I use a Presidium Pro gem tester, but it does not tell if the stone is the synthetically created mineral. To see if it is a natural stone, try cleaning it well and tipping the stone to glare light off the facets under magnification. Look for the barely visible growth lines. Regularly spaced lines will indicate a synthetic, while irregular, less parallel lines may indicate a natural. It may take awhile to see the growth lines as they are hazy and very faint. Hope this helps woith this and other endeavors!

I took a picture pic of the ring and cleaned it up. When looking with my 16x loupe, I did notice lines that were irregular.

The lines can't been seen in this pic. I just got a close up of it. I seen the lines when I turned it sideways.

Really pretty impossible to ID a stone by the pictures, it really needs to be examined in person by a qualified jeweler before making a decision about it. Could be a great windfall or...? Good Luck, I hope it is a diamond! :)

I'm hoping it is. I'm taking it to a jeweler this weekend. Crossing my fingers.

Did you find out about the stone? Was it rock crystal, a diamond, a white topaz, a spinel, a whjite sapphire, a CZ?

Unfortunately, my route took me away from town this past weekend to get it looked at. My wife and I went out to the country side, looking for small ma and pa stores to find some treasures.

I'll have to make it a priority this Saturday to take it somewhere and have it looked at.
