This is somewhat heavy. Stands 15 1/4" tall. Large end measures 15 3/4" across, smaller end measures just under 6" across. A magnet does not stick to any part of this. What exactly is this? And how old is it?

Its either Champleve, or Cloissone, not both. Similar, but distinctly different enamelling techniques. This looks like champleve to me.

Not sure...looks hollow/open on both ends to me? Maybe it was a lamp base thats been de-lamped?

This is indeed Champleve, but very often it is incorrectly classified as cloisonne, which is why I have mentioned both.
it is not very common but you can find this technieks emloyed on the same item.

Rec, good info. I think my piece as a whole is bronze with brass wiring in with the enamel.

Yours doesn't have wires, it is champlevé.;) Maybe this helps: This style is always champlevé.

This is probably a vase or part of a vase and the bottom has fallen out. Common problem with these things if folks put water in them for years.

Blooey it was sold as a vase but there is a hole in the side. Maybe someone made it into a lamp.

Yes well that hole certainly suggests it was lamped at one time.
