    Here's my situation.

Bought a Yixing teapot on eBay for £8. Sold it on eBay for £65. It went immediately as a buy it now listing. I kept an eye on the buyers listings, he put it on as an auction and it sold for over £400.

Rationalising my small profit of £57 isn't doing much for me, so I'm hoping someone can provide some good resources on Yixing teapots so I don't have any more incidents.

    Many thanks

At least, you made a not so small profit;)
What should the initial seller for £8 think if he knew the final price:rolleyes::nailbiting:

I would also look on ebay, sort by highest, and take screen caps of any marks where the seller seems to know what they're talking about. Save it to a library on your desktop for future reference.

LOL, I've been doing that forever with any unusual jewelry marks I come across. I cannot rely on this memory for anything anymore, so I just keep compiling marks.

Now if I could just remember to refer to it when I can't figure out a mark!

In hindsight you guys should have been my first stop. I have been told that a lid that fits on perfectly is a sign of a quality Yixing teapot, and this one was moving a good 3-4mm side to side, so I assumed it wasn't overly valuable. I guess there's more to it than that.

@tie.dye.cat thanks for those links and tips, exactly what I was looking for. Reddit thread is particularly interesting.
