Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

ScanticAntiques, Don't apologize for starting threads in this category! This is my favorite category -- I wouldn't mind seeing even more!

By the way, using the @ with my user name did not beckon me here. Maybe I have email notifications turned off. If people send me a private message through this site I do get an email... but not for anything else.

Aww thank you! Oh lordy I have so many photographs! I've been buying lots of ephemera for the past few months. Antique stores, Auctions, etc. Probably have over 300-400 Cabinet Photos and probably 100+ Tintypes / Ambro / Dags

Interesting to know, Fig. Did you not even get an alert on the upper right of the page?

I love this category too, even though the only old photographs I have are family ones. I have been looking more closely at ephemera when I go to sales, but I have more than enough "collections" and don't need to start a new one. ;)

Bakersgma -- yes, I see that it did say I was tagged. However, I had about 15 alerts of various types up there this morning, and didn't look at each and every one of them. That one wasn't distinctive in any way, except that it said I was tagged instead of saying things like somebody replied to my post. If I have just a few alerts I will go through all of them. But most are not that important, as it also puts an alert up there if anybody replies to a thread that I've replied to (it doesn't have to e a reply to me).

ScanticAntiques, I also have hundreds of photos (although perhaps not as many hundreds as you do). I haven't posted that many here because I tend to identify most of mine pretty well. I would just be showing "eye candy" if I posted here. And I already do that kind of thing in photo collector groups on Facebook.

Aww! @Figtree3 I bet you have an amazing collection! :)
I have a few albums that I've kept for myself. But the majority of photos I have are for re-sale. What areas do you collect?

My keeper albums are 1- Circus (sideshow) 2- Animals (Pets, Sheep) 3- Sports and 4) Deformities (I know odd but interesting!) haha

I'm only a recent collector so I don't have tons! The majority are cabinet photos or Tintypes. I've never posted them anywhere because I've never belonged to any collectors forum or group! Though I'd love to join one! :)

My collection was mostly gathered individually, not albums. So that's why it's taken a while! I've been collecting for about 15 years, although had a few before that. My main collection is all kinds of photos of people in costumes. I have a lot of theatrical, but there are also others. Then I also had a great-grandfather who was a photographer in the late 19th/early 20th century. I collect his photos, mostly from eBay. And I also have photos of people dancing or dancers posing. That collection is smaller. And then I just collect other things that grab my attention.

If you are on Facebook, I'd recommend joining the Victorian Images group. Despite the general word "Images" it's intended to be only for 19th century photos -- and they are pretty strict about the dates, although some very early 20th century ones creep in sometimes. There is another good group called Carte de Visite and Cabinet Card Photographs (or something very close to that). Those are two that I belong to. -- I don't belong to any online photo collectors groups outside of Facebook.

There are people in those groups who collect all of the area you listed. Well, I'm not sure about Sports... if there is a sports collector there they have not spoken up, as such. But some photos of all types are posted at times.
