What do you think about this picture? When was it written?

The picture is not mine. Found an ad on the Internet. For the picture the seller wants about 90 dollars)).

I'd probably grab it!!!! Sometimes I just have to play with an image....to see how it would have looked....I hope you don't mind.....looks like it could use a GOOD cleaning....here's what happened with straightening and a "few tweaks"......I also wonder what a Fox is doing chained near the chickens!!!!!:jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop: And I hadn't noticed the signature.....I'll look again now....

Hi SSlava, I use a Photo editing program....have used it for years....but I mostly "play" with it, but it can sometimes help "clarify" things.....and here's the best I could do on the signature.....not sure it will help anyone, but there are more discerning eyes on this site than MINE!!!! Good Luck!! First word looks to me almost like "Frieda"....can't figure the last.....

Personally, I would not venture as to suggest how to clean your painting when you get it....your best bet would be to at least ASK a professional!!! I do know that more often than not it can be a slow, careful process! In watching some shows on TV, I've seen they carefully use Q-tips and their own spittle.....Once it IS clean, hopefully no-one smokes where it will be hung!!!! Maybe others have more suggestions.....if not, ASK around the Internet....there are frequently videos to help!!!!!

Thank you. perhaps I have a familiar restorer. He can then find out if he can clear the picture.

And yet what about the dating of the picture? The artist, apparently, was professional?

MY thoughts would be mid 1800s, but it could be earlier.....I'm just not sure....sorry! And I would say that is NOT an amateur's work......others could answer that better....

    Hi,
That rooster is mad about something. Look into his eye. Our one rooster HATED and I mean Hated my sister. He would hear her coming and hide under the grape vines. He would then fly out and scratch and peck her as much as he could. I gave my sister a baseball bat once and when she came down the path the rooster flew out and my sister swung the bat and clobbered him. He must have flown 15 feet after the blow. He never attacked her again.

Maybe this is the first half of the 19th century?

Do let us know if you end up buying it, and if you find out anymore information on it.

I also see "Frieda" as the first name, and maybe once you have it in hand, it will be easier to see the rest of what's written.

    I like it.

What is the rooster doing leading the others so close to the fox/dog's bowl? They are not going unnoticed!

A picture came to me. I can not understand, is it a painting, or a printed?
The paper is pasted onto the canvas, below is something like a white primer.

The picture looks darkened. Under the flash, the image is already clearer.
