This is one of my favorites that I found. It's signed on the front and on the verso. On the verso, it's has the title "3 Heads" dated 1965 by R. Stefurak. The head dresses on these ladies, not sure where they are from. I get a European vibe from them though. I like it how the different hair colors make up the title. You have brunette, blonde and a redhead. It speaks more fashion to me than anything else. image.jpg image.jpg

Armando, I know it (probably) isn't, but the first person I thought of when seeing the top profile (the blonde) is Grace Kelly. To my eye it really looks like her and her classic "model" poses.

Here is a link to a YouTube "news film" -- the portion talking about (showing) Grace Kelly modeling begins at about 1.4 minutes into the footage.

Oh wow!! I see it too. It would be nice to think it is. I'm just shocked on how much they look the same.

Here's a picture of Grace Kelly that I found. She is wearing, what appears to be the same kind of headdress in the painting but it's a different color.

I don't know if it's just me, but the earring in her photo, looks like it resembles the one in the painting.

Grace Kelly never modeled or acted after 1956, when she married Prince Rainier.

The photo you show is probably from the late 1970s.

image.jpg image.jpg I did some searching on models in 1965 and I came across a model that CLOSELY resembles the brunette. The eye brows, nose and long neck all match up. The models name is Maggi Eckardt.

The photo shown says it was from 1965.

Now that really does look right, but it can be almost impossible to ID models in art, because often the artist didn't really care who they were, as long as they had whatever "look" he/she wanted.

I meant the photo of Grace Kelly, not your painting.

Admando, now "we" just need to find a photo of Grace Kelly's profile wearing a similar hat/headcovering. I also wish "we" could find a photo of Grace Kelly's profile with her ear showing. If "we" can do that, her "ear" may be the best clue yet (ear configuration can be quite distinctive). Unfortunately "we" don't have any way of knowing if the artist took "artistic license" with the "ear" of the woman in your painting.

Messilane, your timeline is correct about her not "modeling" after 1956.

But, that does not necessarily preclude an artist in 1965 from portraying Grace Kelly (and two others) in what seem to be "modeling poses."

Timelines can be wavy/extended when a painting includes a "threesome" of any one kind. Haven't there been some "famous" portraits of our various "founding fathers" where two or three figures are portrayed in one painting when their individual renown fell into two or more decades?

And here's another example of "artistic license" with timelines in portraying well-known people.

My point was - it really doesn't matter who these women are unless they are "famous", and personally sat for the painting.

Grace Kelly did indeed wear turbans over a span of years, but that doesn't mean diddly.

Messilane, I agree that "Grace Kelly in a turban" in a 1965 painting with two other people in similar head-coverings doesn't make it a Grace Kelly homage/painting.

However, if it could be determined that it is a portrayal of Grace Kelly then the tie with the other two may be that they also were models who were famous in other walks of life just as was Grace Kelly.

Or the painting could simply be the artist's way of saying "give me a turbaned blonde, a turbaned redhead, and a turbaned brunette and I'm all set for people almost 50 years from now to be wondering about what the devil I had in mind when painting this." :D

He could have just used magazine images of models. It seems to be a fantasy piece anyway. I don't see "StefurAk" I see "Stefurck"

    Hi,
That was the decade of the "ice blondes" think Grace Kelly, Tippy Hendren, Kim Novack, Eva Marie Saint.
The brunette looks like my first wife and her sister. A lot of women wore turbans, think Maria Callas.

I agree 100% with Messi that this is no way a portrait of Grace Kelly. The artist just portrayed a blonde, red head and brunette in turbans in the late 1960s to 1970s fashion. Turbans were in style at that time. All 3 turban heads are probably the same at different angles with different hair colors. They all have similar angular faces. To me the lips and face profile isn't GK, but that is a subjective opinion.
