Is one cup and saucer valuable on its own?

Also if so were is the best place to sell something like this? Or is it charity shop?

 

This looks very nice. Can you show close up of painting to see if it’s transfer printed or hand painted. Not for charity shop imo.

It’s a Vienna mark, lots of them around, I’m sure I’ve seen them here too.

Going to a local auction house in Shropshire, there doing online only at the moment. General auction.

They sometimes have Antique auctions too.

Local auction houses, that have gone online only, near me (Wisconsin, USA) are not getting very good prices for items like this. Perhaps in your area they are doing better. Do they show previous auction prices on their web site that you can check?

 

No it doesnt show previous.

I'm nervous selling on ebay for breakables.

 

Knowing who the maker is can make a difference. Pinning down a maker using this mark can be a challenge. The early well known and regarded marks similar to this are actually a shield or bindenschild with the flat part on the top. Many companies used a similar mark thereafter and often flipped it upside down so people sometimes call it a beehive. Sometimes you can't tell which way it goes but on your first cup you might assume the beehive faces the same way as the writing.

Wow its so hard to see if real or not. Or to date if it is.

My aunts husband was a antiques dealer i hope he would have known. It was hers.

 

The first one is higher quality.

 

I would sell in an antiques auction sale rather than general. Cabinet items aren’t as popular as they were though. Can you ask the auction house what sort of price you might get and set a reserve you are happy with?
