Good Evening Everyone! I Am Hoping That You Can Help me Identifying This Trinket Box

I hope all is well with you all! I know nothing about this box and I am hoping to get some information regarding age, where it’s from and or if there is a story behind it. It is marked on the back, but I don’t understand it. It reminds me of one of those old Chinese porcelain Shard.

Thanks for taking the trouble, ezee. Strangely I can now see all of your excellent photos. No idea what is going on with my computer, it is also working at a snail pace.

Your cute box is of a type I saw a lot on ebay etc ca 1995-2010. I have a porcelain snuff bottle with the same silvertone metal dragon and phoenix mount, bought around the same time. Those mounts are also used on Peking glass 'wedding' bangles.
In spite of the mark, your box could have been made around the time I started seeing them. So an apocryphal mark.
The dragon and phoenix symbolism is described in one of the ebay listings. The value given by the 'appraiser' and the price in both listings are beyond ridiculous. During the period I saw so many of them, they sold for $0.99-$19.99 with free shipping (paid by the Chinese state, promotion).

Have you cleared History?
Look and see if your computer did an upgrade.
I had an upgrade that slowed me down. Went back and restored to a date prior to the upgrade and now have no problems.

 

Striking piece. And, yes! That rich red colour is so awesome.

 

And I'd swear that's a duck beside the 'boy'/person!

You think so? It was had to make out and know you got me thinking duck! lol

 

I'll outline why I think so.....first it looks like there's a curve for a duck bill, and second it looks like there are two duck feet face up there....give me a minute......there....don't know if that would be a scarf out behind or not.....don't know if the Chinese do those sorts of things on their decos!!

I think what you see as a duck is actually a basket with flower/greenery in it.
What you called feet looks more like a mound of grass.

Where I have yellow looks more like a duck with its head tucked back. But could just as easily be a rock.
