Featured Kamola of California

Is this another one of those Companies that opened and closed fast, is this why I cannot find them ?

 

I got zip.
Maybe open for 20 minutes.

 

1950s mohair shawl. Probably a small speciality company. Perhaps owned by the weaver herself. (There seems to be a lot of Kamolas in California -- though must say, I've never met one.)

I noticed them too but nothing in regard to this 'company'.

 

Ha! Found 'em! Mr. & Mrs. Teofil Kamola, "world class weavers" out of Long Beach, CA. 1968 article from local paper here.

And here's an earlier article from 1954. "Mrs." has a name, by way. It's Stefannie.

They took over another firm that used power looms in 1960, and the article implies that they didn't do any hand-weaving after that.

Just to clarify, Kamola Fabrics was my
Father in law’s company. His company did the mohair hand weaving. This price was not made by the original Kamola family.

 

Hi R Kamola, nice to hear from you. I posted this alwhile back but still have it. Very cool that your Father in Law was the owner of that company. I was just trying to find a value on this piece.
