i have what apparently is a lithograph of Macgregor's Queen of The Sea in The original frame(I found one online with the same frame&plaque)
I believe it was a post from 2007 and appraised online for $1500... is this current or undervaluation? Any idea on exact date? Thank

the artist that appraiser says it is from died before this was painted... i dont think it is robert mcgregor's work. if it is then its not hand painted. also why would there be 2 of the same painting in the same frame with plaque? all the way across the country?

Can you see a signature or a date on the picture?

There could be 2 of the same painting in the same frame with plaque, all the way across the country, if that's how they were sold as prints. The prices in that link relate to paintings, not prints. You yourself say this is a print. There's no point in comparing the price of a reproduction to the price of an original.

There's a copy of the litho on Ebay at the moment. Unframed and not in the best condition, it's buy it now price is $15. Usefully the seller shows the inscription with the publishers name , "Goes" [ie. Goes Lithographing of Chicago], and its catalogue number, G.P. 10279.

The print on Ebay measures 29x23 inches. How does this compare to yours? Yours seems to have been cut down a bit at the bottom.

There's a copyright entry from 1947 for a smaller Goes Litho print, which confirms the artist's initial as "R", though its clearly not the Robert Macgregor who died in 1922. This 9x12 print, "Clippership Dreadnaught", has the catalogue number GP 10275, and is described as a colour reproduction of a painting dated 1939.

My dad confirmed it is a painting not a litho it was my years old mistake , when I first found it I identified it as a painting but there being another made me second guess it. It is identical to the one that a link was posted for, I am out to dinner so I can't check but it is signed Macgregor 1939 if I'm not mistaken! :) today pops was very sure it's a painting not anything else. i will get it appraised to lay any other questions to rest. Thanks guys!

Alright im pretty bummed out and upset. Scratch whatever I said about it being a painting. I examined it and almost covered up by the frame it says Litho in USA. My dad hasn't looked at in a while close up. I assume it's worth maybe a hundred bucks as an artists reproduction, being from 1939. Well it was given to me for free by my dad so no loss on my part! Also I just picked up some vintage/antique ?fly? Fishing rods from my local thrift shop. They have tons of good stuff because the town they're in is old money(which means old stuff) posting a thread momentarily

Awesome answer. I have a (both times). I have a “litho in USA , what looks like a sn and some other letters including copyright symbol, followed by 4 letters ( bottom right). On the bottom left is Macgregor 1939. The print is dirty, but in exceptionally good shape. Does it have value and without seeing it can you specify a range?

I'm the wrong person to ask about values. It wont be very expensive. What value it has will mostly be in its age.

This is a very old thread.
