Hi there, I acquired these from a young girl who said they belonged to her boyfriend, who is from Vienna, Austria. She just had them listed as accents, not realizing they were fireplace accessories. I can't find these online, and the markings are throwing me for a loop, as well. It looks like the initials could be VL, VG, VC, or possibly even VB if the line never made the connection on the letter, don't think so, though... Only one of them has the initials, but on the other piece it looks like you can make out 'VA' which I assume would, obviously, indicate Vienna, Austria.Any input is appreciated, take care 118120116_340531517125648_8490985994706387499_n.jpg 118161628_338383450682874_8126609400537365428_n.jpg 118194694_668513003751541_2620778402413470116_n.jpg va111.png 118118624_632770037636944_2295044530138742487_n.jpg

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Good Lord, WHO would put them in a WORKING fireplace!!!!???? DECORATIVE, I could see..............but otherwise, no no no no!!!!

I've tried playing with both marks in my programs.....and I'm not coming up with much better than you're showing.....the mark on the gilded surface, TO ME, absolutely looks like "VR", but on the dark iron surface it sure looks like "VB".....with the 'B' being poorly stamped.....sorry, that's the best I've come up with......IF you want to try taking a photo of the "VR" from a different angle with a slight shadow.....might help possibly......

Is my depth perception really this bad? I don't see where the bracket part sticks out far enough to hold firewood. The brace in the back looks flush to the items.
