I have several "bowls" like that - but I can never find the right size when I need it!

    Nylon lock nuts. :)
Have used them a lot but I hoard them and only use them in the most dire circumstances!!!
As if they are as valuable as a pound of Saffron!!! ;)

As long as you have your hardware sorted into separate containers, I see nothing wrong with that. So what if I have so many containers of nuts, bolt, screws, and other fasteners that it takes me 10 minutes to find the right container. And, then, end up going through the pile I haven't sorted yet because the piece I want isn't in the sorted parts.

Then I have a ton of power tools fastened away and two full tool chests.

An equal amount to this at my storage lockup and a tool chest in my car.

    OCD ?

This is a very entertaining thread!! Of course the title caught my eye and lo and behold, not the kind of nuts I was expecting!!

Because of King's referal to revered lock nuts & Rayo's "plastic lined" ones, I even scrolled back to see if I could spot to which they refer....but could not.

Vintagerobin......loved your post!! Ain't it the truth about everything!!

And Spring.......you have a place for everything, and everything in its place!!

My house is neat as a pin, EVERYTHING in its place, clean and tidy, but my toolbox !! A large pink box OVERFLOWING with assorted tools, sandpaper, duct and electrical tape .. everything you could imagine is jammed in there, and I don't know how to use any of it, except the hammers and screwdrivers, I call my son if I need any repairs done .. he uses the stuff in there, I never touch it. But a least I have it, I have TOOLS !! YESEREE !! :) .. Joy.

Here are are some lock/locking nuts.
    1) 'Castellated' and accept either a cotter pin or sometimes wound safety wire through the bolt they hold. This is the type that hold your vehicle's wheels on.
    2) Nylon lock nuts. One time use...should be... ;) The nylon damaged by the bolt grips the bolt.
    3) (no photo) These are stamped to distort the threads. Should also be one-time use.
    4) and more> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distorted_thread_locknut

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Many years ago, I bought DH a nice stack-able tool chest......I do not believe he can get in to all of the drawers any more let alone KNOW what's IN them. NUTS & BOLTS??? They have devolved into many coffee cans under the work bench.... hmmmm, maybe I should be checking out the coffee cans for value....:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:
