    Sort of.
    The family had already disposed of the big stuff and called me for the smalls.
    I got some really good coins.
    There were 90 full good quality stamp albums too but I passed them over to a a friend.

    These days in the US, stamp collecting is DOA. Those coins however...yowza. The medals too; that's quite an assortment! I saw the US WWI medal smack in the center, unless I'm totally losing it. My grandfather had the same one.

    The medals in the centre are both British, they were issued in pairs, one is Sterling silver (BWM) WWI British War Medal the other is Bronze 1914-1919 Victory medal.
    There`s a couple of French WWI Croix de Guerre and a German WWI Iron Cross second class.
    You are right about the stamps, there was a life times collection but I would have been here until next year sorting it out.
    I pass stamp offers onto my friend and he does likewise with coins and medals.

    Theses finds are mind-blowing, guys. The medals are amazing.

    I posted a thread on the furniture site. My uncle is in hospice now and getting the very best care. He always asked me what type of furniture this was, and I never got around to finding out. I am posting a few pics here.... I would like to tell him.....

    Yes..... amazingly beautiful......he purchased a bed frame, nightstand, long dresser with a mirror, a highboy, and a large vanity/desk with mirror with a matching curved bench all for $100 in 1986 from a neighbor...... furn 1.jpg furn 2.jpg furn 5.jpg furn 6.jpg

    Still researching most of them but the one you ask about is:

    French WWI combat / combatants silver medal for wounded during war. Obverse of medal has a nurse helping a soldier
    PATRIE DEVOUMENT and monograms S.B and reverse says SOCIETE FRANCAISE DE SECOURS 1864 - 1866 AUX BLESSES MILITAIRES. Medal is signed by artist L. Bottee
    Its worth around $50

    Marko, that's a seriously nice set. i don't think it's old, those coin holder thingies were popular in the 50s, but it's good quality. No pressboard Ikea garbage there.

    Today I went out hunting and spent $12.75 total. $7 of that was on clothes for this fall.(sigh) Deader than roadkill out there; the only sales were moving sales and all they had was kid stuff and glassware.

    Marko, I think I missed your post on the furniture forum (?) but I looked around a bit for Kay Furniture of Yonkers and came up with a tiny bit of info.

    That decal on the back of your uncle's pieces shows a Warburton Ave address:

    The Kay family apparently opened their furniture store at 24-26 Warburton Ave in Yonkers in July of 1927. By the end of February, 1931, Kay Furniture had moved to 24 Main Street. They later expanded into 22 Main Street, as well. The Main Street store closed in 1967.

    With that address on the decal, your uncle's furniture may be older than originally thought. The company was only at that address from 1927 to 1931.
