British: Hong Kong, India, Burma, Singapore, Malaya, Straits Settlements.

Dutch: Indonesia, Java, Sumatra, Dutch East Indies.

    French: Cambodia, Viet-nam, French IndoChina.

Important to remember where the Europeans held colonial power, if you're going to talk about colonial furniture! :p

Yes, for French Colonial furniture you have to go to the former French colonies. And then there were the Spanish in the Philippines of course.
But when we're talking Java and other parts of Indonesia, it is Dutch influence. Other European countries, notably the Portuguese, had trading posts in the 16th and 17th centuries. But there is no distinct Portuguese influence on colonial furniture in Indonesia, and certainly no French.

It might be interesting to look at the furniture from this maker - J. & J.W. Meeks.

Interesting, but that looks like a slightly heavier take on Rococo furniture, it doesn't have the delicate carving of this vanity table.
    And no birds on twigs.;)

I agree, I thought it might give an indication of style/date its almost like black forest furniture.

It seems to me the marble top was added later as the edge routering is so perfect. Looks like the entire piece is made from teak. I did not spot any different types of wood in the construction.

Martin - You'll need to go back to your Album in the Gallery and change the setting from Private to Public. Clicking on the links only tells the viewer that they do not have permission to see.

My apologies @Martin Brody , I completely missed your posts of june 29th. Thanks for the detailed photos.
Your vanity table is Dutch Colonial, not Peranakan, because the central bird is not a phoenix.
There is some Madurese influence, and the bird could be a bulbul, one of Madura's sacred birds. This makes me think it was made either in Madura, or in Pasuruan in east Java.
Pasuruan is a coastal town, facing the island of Madura across the Madura strait, it's population is mainly Madurese. Pasuruan is one of the furniture centres of Indonesia, and close to the best teak forests in the world.
