    A "jeweler" does not make jewelry a goldsmith does.Yes,it was a generalized question.You have someone who is experienced/trained and knows what he is doing,the vast majority of people who work in jewelry stores are not.

    You’re playing semantics. I have no friends who go to goldsmiths -we all have custom jewelry that is made by our jewelers and yes, they’re obviously goldsmiths.

    Sorry but in my world calling a jeweler a goldsmith is pretentious (NOT referring to how the jeweler/goldsmith refers to themself. No issue with that).

    Hi! Just saw this thread and would like to help. I am foreigner who lived in Indonesia for 17 years now. UBS is a reputable jewelry makers here. The 700 marking that you see means 17k here. It is real gold and not plated. Hope this helps.
