Okay Aquitaine, don't read this, but for those who want to know, here is a list of the contents of my box:

    1. Stack of photographs of art by official U.S. Navy Combat artists
    2. Small photo of an event on the White House lawn in 1922
    3. Several Norman Rockwell Coca Cola blank cards
    4. At least 50 different advertising emery boards
    5. Ten pairs of work gloves of various types in different sizes
    6. Three boxes filled with military medals, pins, and ribbons
    7. An antique salinometer
    8. Four packages of antique (?) steel sail needles
    9. One sail making palm
    10. A length of chain for hanging lamps
    11. A box full of very small gears and other metal shapes and parts
    12. A bag of paper umbrellas
    13. Two little electromechanical whirly county devices
    14. Seven or eight packages of stickers
    15. Eight bouffant hair nets
    16. A bronze star in a presentation box
    17. A P.M. Cable Splicing Holder
    18. A multi-bladed pocket knife
    19. A boxed set of a Husky folding knife and a Husky multi tool
    20. A spool with 2 lengths of yellow wire and 2 lengths of green wire
    21. A pair of military issue sun glasses
    22. At least eleven heavy pieces of metal with mysterious functions – one wrapped up in a bag with so much grease I’m afraid to open it
    23. A baggie full of variously shaped ceramic pieces
    24. A plastic eyepiece for something
    25. A pair of craft scissors that make a pretty pattern
    26. Two puffy cookie shaped things covered with soft stuff – probably for polishing something
    27. Two plastic bags with bullet silhouettes on them that say “Grasp corner firmly and snap”
    28. A chaff countermeasure M-1
    29. A 1944 gold star pin
    30. Various other medals from colleges, etc.
As you can see, I don't even know what half of it is, but it is SOOOOOOOOOOOO COOL! Thanks again Spring!

I'm jealous almost, but glad I don't have to deal with those pesky bouffant caps.(LOL) What does one do with a surplus bronze star, anyway?

I am SO d@amned sorry that I couldn't participate in this little adventure! Believe it or not, I could probably USE some of the things mentioned (NOT bouffant caps, though?????)! When my inheritance arrives, I am going to put a chunk away on the off chance that this is ever offered again. And at this point in my life a little surprise would be fun!!!!

Don't wanna make it too easy, and I hope others will work on it. All I'll do for now is give oblique clues, maybe. I don't think you'll know much about that particular item until you are sure the wheat's been separated from it. Thanks for sending $.

Yes. Puffed out of aircraft when their instruments detect certain things. The smallest pieces should be short aluminum-coated fiberglass threads. Each tube would contain hundreds of thousands of them, packed in many little packets.

Then bottom line I should keep them contained unless of course I am threatened by a zombie apocalypse??? :jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop::rolleyes::rolleyes::wacky::wacky::wacky::p:p:p:D:D:D:D

A friend came for dinner last night & she brought a SLAH wire basket votive holder that she had bought years ago but had never used. Her intention was to give it to me to sell on ebay because she has been trying to purge stuff out of her house. We figured out that she could cut off the 2 rings that held the votive candles& it would make a great piece to hold a couple of her many African Violet plants.

While the DH was out in the shop doing the cutting I started showing her the second box of goodies that arrived Friday afternoon. Not only did she leave with the basket that was suppose to stay with me, but inside the basket was some gloves, the set of mini screwdrivers, the pliers/knife tool set & the bundle of emery boards.:eek::eek::facepalm::banghead:

So much for that attempt to purge stuff out of her house.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
