Fairly detailed wood bust of what looks like a pope or other catholic figure. I think the skull cap is a Zucchetto, right? The piece is life sized, i'll get some measurements later if needed.

Haven't been able to find anything quite like it. I figure its 50's-60's. Any help on who it is, who made it, and such, would be appreciated.

    Thanks for looking.

John XXIII reigned as Pope from 28 October 1958 to his death in 1963

Yes, it is John XXIII. He was extremely popular, and still is. He was a 'people's pope', as well as a theologians pope. To many Italians he was already a saint during his lifetime.
He started the 2nd Vatican Council, an assembly to modernize the Roman Catholic church. This was much to the dismay of the Mediterranean clergy and other conservative forces in the church, and to the delight of the northern European and clergy and theologians, and many Latin Americans as well. He invited lay people and representatives of other faiths to the council.
He was canonized in 2014, after a miracle had been investigated and confirmed by the 'devil's advocate' and his team. That means he is now saint John XXIII, or Giuseppe Angelo Roncalli, his real name.

I had an alabaster bust that came from a great aunt's house and it looked just like yours.
