Picked up some antique photos, including 1920-1940's sports by NEA, native american and aviation. Any sense if these are type i or type ii photos and are they worth anything?

Early aviation shots are always worth something, and these go back almost as far as you can go.

Looking at old photos are so interesting. Sometimes the things in the background are more interesting than the main subject.

it would be nice to have writing on the NA one.
Someone had this rematted , placing acid free mats next to the photo...as opposed to the top mat...which has clearly browned where cut....with age.

It is fitting then that the Enderby Radio Range should look down on the area of the B.C. Interior's first flight by a heavier than air machine on July 1,1912, eighty years ago. The honour for this historic occasion goes to the City of Armstrong. The pilot was Billy Stark, one of only two aircraft owners on Canada's Pacific coast. He rail-freighted his frail pusher type Curtiss biplane from Vancouver. He assembled the craft at the fairground and made two successful flights before a crowd of over four thousand spectators.

July 1 is Canada Day (Dominion Day in 1912), Canada's birthday.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Danno, can you explain what you mean by type i and type ii photos? Those terms are not familiar to me.

    Thanks!

    sure thing, fig.

Type i - developed from original negative within two years
Type ii - developed from original negative after two years
Type iii - developed from duplicate negative or wire transmission developed within two years of original photo being taken
Type iv - developed from a duplicate negative or wire the transmission after two years.

Danno, did you find this page? The image is missing for me when I look at it, but it does give some information about William (Billy) Stark's history of aviation. Perhaps will help to date the photo:

That is a nice concise synopsis, fig. The date is on the bottom left of the photo, July 1, 2012. I assume that this is printed from the original negative at that time.

I purchased the group of photos (about 30) for $50 which included about 25 sports wire photos by NEA. I have absolutely no idea what these ones are worth.

Sorry 1912, not 2012. I need to do a better job of reviewing my postings!
