I purchased this awhile ago. It is a belt designed for Jane Fonda by Diego Percossi Papi. The piece was one of several consigned By Jane Fonda at an extremely reputable auction house. The piece and the box have small "jf" monograms.

While the jewelry itself is stunning with cultured pearl, jade, tourmaline, aquamarine and banded agate among the semi-precious stones, the vintage belt is dated and in my opinion, not very attractive. In your opinion, should this piece be recrafted as a necklace or should the satin belt be replaced with something different or should the piece be left intact?

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

As Johnny mentioned, if you're selling it you should sell as is and let the buyer decide. If you are keeping it you should make it into something you find attractive. Or more than one something. That's just IMO, though.

I generally do not sell much but I may be inclined to sell this piece. With that in mind, johnny, I agree with your position. Now, the challenge will be pricing.....Percossi Papi belts are virtually non-existent

Do you have provenance? I think the celebrity connection should enhance the value.

I found an auction result online that looks very like this belt.

She consigned it with Juliens Beverly Hills and I have the supporting documentation.

I guess that I should just mark up to the midpoint of the auction estimate. No comps out there on belts though

But you bought it at that auction, no? If so, certainly your asking price should cover your purchase price.

I paid less than the low estimate of $1,000. The midpoint of their $1,000-$2,000 estimate would be $1,500, about doubling my investment. Trying to assess the value of the piece independent of the celebrity connection and struggling. Like you, Debora, I reviewed other diego percossi papi jewelry to convince me to but it but having some buyers remorse because I do not like the piece as is.

Not to be flippant, but the value of the piece is what someone is willing to pay for it. That's something you can't control, whatever the auction estimate is. Nice to make a profit but as long as you recoup your investment... The other option, if you like elements of the belt, is to ask the design house to rework the piece into something more to your taste.

    Diego Percossi Papi Pendant

Just this pendant sold last year for what you paid for your belt... FWIW :)

I like it - I'd keep it as-is, unless maybe you can find an estate jeweler who can sell it piece by piece? Do you do jewelry yourself?

The issue with doing it piece by piece....there is only one makers mark. No, not much of a jewelry guy although i certainly appreciate the beauty of a nice piece

I'm not sure what you don't like about it, other than the fact that it looks somewhat dated - I'd consider having a simple leather belt made for it. That'd spruce it up a lot. (In a color as artsy as the setting).

    Keeping the original, of course.

Edit: Now that I look at it, the belt component is kind of sweet and interesting, but I still like the idea of updating it. :)
