I know it's not worth a lot, but my son found it at our local "gift house" today (free stuff) and we really liked the design of gazelles and trees around the edge 2014-11-01 18.46.19 (800x600).jpg 2014-11-01 18.46.45 (800x600).jpg . E.M.P.C. Intaglio Design

I like that design as well. Be careful cleaning it, chances are it will scratch easily.

You should be able to find other items in this pattern.
Also use deer as a search word.

    Hi Bev,
I used to love "the poor man's silver" aka aluminum. The only way I found to clean them without scratching them invouled the usual washing under hot water and soap with a soft toothbrush around designs. Make a paste with Cream of Tartar, do not use baking soda or anything alkaline. Then polish the tray it should start to gleam like new. Good rinsing and towel drying. Just to be sure try on that back first just to be sure.

Thanks. I actually have some Cream of Tartar and I wouldn't have thought to use it.

I happen to like aluminum. I have quite a few pieces that belonged to my family and my husband's family. My son obviously picked up the bug.

When we remodeled our 'breakfast room' into an office, we removed a wall of cabinets. I had to pack up a lot of stuff. It'll be fun some day to open the boxes and see what I have! I know a bunch of my aluminum ware is packed.

Love it too! I have used paste silver polish on aluminum and that shines it up nicely

I collect aluminum and have about 3 bins full, only about two pieces of Wendell.

After war production of aircraft parts finished, some factories retooled to make domestic products, despite the overall unsuitability of aluminium for such a purpose.
Virtually the only successful product was the saucepan, where the dull grey appearance was not considered a problem.

Consider your plate some metal that just missed being an aeroplane.

Well, I would never cook in aluminum since its related to Alzheimers,in autopsy they found a concertration of aluminum in the brain, even most antacids have aluminum.

I do think the holloware is great for around the pool or out doors in general for chips, cookies, etc. no fear of breakage :)
One time I had a Bar-b-que and a friend brought an ambrosia covered in foil, when I removed it I saw specks of the foil on the cream and pin holes in the foil.

I then did a test with a boiled potato, I wrapped it in foil and the next day took it from the frige and saw the same reaction on the potato.

Its hard to believe that once aluminum was considered more precious than gold in the mid 1800's?

It takes a lot of electrical energy to refine the metal from the oxide, so early refining would be quite an expensive feat.

In use, aluminium saucepans become 'passivated' by a layer of inert alumia, aluminium oxide. You'd need to polish them daily to have naked metal exposed. Same effect with lead pipes that become coated with inert lead carbonates and sulphates.

    Hi Shiloh,
Most antiperspirents also have alumimum choloride. Aluminum is one of the most aboundent elements on earth. The problem is some people can not flush aluminum from their bodies not because people ingest too much aluminum. It is a crap shoot in the genes. I have always had the worlds worst diet and my highest cholestrol level was 112. My ex wife was a vegan and was a runner. Her lowest cholestrol was 385. She used to get so angry at me. She popped off at 51.
