Don't want to gamble on this one as I know nothing about it and the seller couldn't tell me more. He said its a Dutch painting?. It has initials looking like JV and a date underneath reading 1820 according to the owner. Any ideas who the artist could be? To me it doesn't look Dutch but more Italian or such?. Sorry for the pics but this is all he send me. Any info/input is welcome. Thx Ben

The costumes are from the southern Alpine region, so that could be the region of South Tyrol in northern Italy. The flower painting on the shutter is also very much from that region, Grödnertal/ Val Gardena is famous for it.
Definitely not Dutch in clothing, houses, style of painting, but you already knew that.
    Very nice painting.

Agree that it doesn't look particularly Dutch. Would probably pass on it myself unless enticingly cheap.

Not that cheap that it's worth a gamble so that's why I'm here :)

Interesting. Need to have a look into this. Didnt know about this area south Tyrol in Italy. I only guessed it becauee of how the faces were painted and the houses and the donkey. The costumes indeed look like Tyrol style from what I know from their movies :)
