Hello again - another thrift store find of mine from a year or so ago , kind of excited about this one, had him tucked away and just remembered I had him!

According to 925-1000 date code site - http://www.925-1000.com/Tiffany_Date_Code.html - this looks to date between 1870-1875. My question is, is it actually Tiffany, and secondly, what would it have been for? Perfume? It's 2" long and 1.5" wide. Also I think maybe a chain was attached at some point, there are two little nubs that may be where the chain was attached, of course I could be wrong about that. Opinions? Thoughts? Picture 5 has the marks.

possibility's, perfume, snuff or small flask. I vote for snuff or flask due to the opening but what the heck do I know:cigar:

I'm thinking flask, as well. A rather more masculine than feminine design to begin with, no dauber. Any chance that top actually comes apart at the ridge in the middle?

Just tried to give the cap a good twist, fairly sure it doesn't come apart, there is a somewhat loose piece inside the cap - i assume some kind of stopper to keep liquid from leaking...

    You're probably right about that.

Oh, and you asked "it is really Tiffany?" I see no reason to doubt the mark. The faked stuff is all of a newer style than something like this. Plus the marks on them are sloppy.

Looks like there were 4 "nubs" originally, but i have no idea of their purpose.

Took a few minutes to think about............. I believe it's a smelling salts container which hung from a chatelaine.

This is described as a TIFFANY perfume flask, designed to hang from a chatelaine.

It's either a flask for alcohol, or for smelling salts.

Surely size would dictate for which use designed?

Maybe it's a liquor flask for pixies?

Good point ... I measured the capacity ... 25ml, so not a liquor flask.
