    For value, you can search sold listings on ebay. Search "crocodile alligator handbag", and select unbranded, and sold.

    40 years old is only 1980. Would you post a photograph from the side? Of the hardware? Of the interior? And what is the size? (In vintage purses, all of these are helpful in identifyng era.)

    Agree that your bag is crocodile as opposed to alligator. I can see 70s/80s from that clasp although all you need is “vintage”. What you do need to do is to gently push on all the skins to make sure that the bag is still viable and has no cracks. IMO if it has any cracks, it’s gone and should not be sold. If the skins are OK the bag has minimal value.

    At one time alligator and crocodile were illegal to be shipped into California but I have no idea if that’s still true.
