metal trinket box

Got this at a yard sale today for a buck, wasn't sure what it was but what the heck. It tests as nickel and has all different kinds of stones in it. Any info on this type of box would be appreciated. It is 6 inches x 4 x 1

Middle Eastern, possibly Turkish, inlaid with agates. A souvenir, but nice. Also made in India and Tibet, but the ropework looks Middle East.

 

Arab, these are usually Badawi (Bedouin).
Yes, related work is made in India. In Tibet, Nepal, etc. they would make them with either coral and turquoise or faux coral and faux turquoise (glass).
Very nice for a buck, certainly worth more.

Komokwa I keep telling her that and all she does is remind me how much it will cost to rescind the invitation! after 41 years it might be to late anyway.
