No marks for sterling so I guess plated. Anyone recognizes the maker's mark?

Your plated guess is correct IMHO, although I have no idea who the maker might be. Not ringing any bells, but I do think there should be additional pieces on either side of that diamond.

There are diamonds or triangles on each side but very faint.

Right on SIS! I have been looking for this mark off and on for the past 1/2 hour to finally stumble on the Pilgrim Silver mark. Pilgrim silver was a brand name used by Friedman. On coming back to post found your rsearch abilities are faster than mine. This mark of Friedman has "EP-NS" under it. I can see the remnants of "EP-NS" on this double vegetable dish under the scratched on SSN.

About 1/2 way down the page:

The "100" would be the pattern number.

Edit: Friedman Silver Co. was located in Brooklyn, NY. It was founded in 1908. In 1960 it was bought out by Gorham Silver.

BTW, SSN 239-10-4566 belonged to a Willie Church whose last residence was the town of Pound, Wise County, Virginia. He was born in 1887 and died in 1980 at the age of 93.

Thank you all. I thought gregsglass was joking about the SSN.

Nope. Back in the day, it was safe to use it as ID on items like this for insurance purposes. That was before little kids needed them. I found an online database once with my late grandfather's social listed. He's been gone since 1973, so anyone wanting to steal the identity of a guy born in 1894 is welcome to it.(LOL)

Like Greg and Evely.. said, SSN were used by many as ID on most valuable possessions. For a very short time I even used mine for my Driver's license number! Hard to believe doing such a thing in today's world.

There's a Social Security Death Master File somewhere on the web. Can't remember where now. I used it several years ago to get genealogy info on great aunts and uncles and their issue where I really only needed the vital record dates of birth and death. I didn't need it on my direct line family. To find out the holder of the SSN on this silver dish, all I did was google the number. Looked at a few of the links and came up with person's name, dates and last residence.

Found the SS Death Master File. The following page let's you search it by SSN:
    http://ssdmf.info/number_index.html

    Here's by name:

    Hi,
Watch out for SS #s. My brother who died in 1965 started to collect a social security check in the 1980s. Seems someone got his number and used for years. It was a mess trying to straighten the records. The illegal person who stole the number was finally caught never did find out what happened, probably just stole an another #.
