& cover up the flowers !!!

    It's big.....maybe not for candy at all...14 x 10 1/4 x 3 tall at the rim....the handle adds another inch and bit.
    It's heavy...
The only mark on the bottom is that purple smoosh....& it's smaller than an artificial sweetener pill....
The crack..or separation ....doesn't go anywhere...& I can barely feel it.
& I have no clue what's up with those ....letters ??? on the underside of the rim ..???

    Where's it from ? ( & don't say my kitchen !! ;)..)
    Age ?
    Maker......if it matters..?

    OH.....& what should I list it for on eBay...on Etsy....on a website.....at a yard sale...in Detroit ....Montreal.....Birmingham.....Tokyo .....Santiago ....or Lebanon !!
    :rolleyes::):)

easier to eat the candy when out in a pretty dish:) (sorry, I couldn't resist)
Does it look hand painted? Maybe the letters are the signature of the hobbyist.
I think you would do better in a yard sale rather than on-line as they don't sell for much anymore.

it feels hand painted.....but I was wondering if it was a mirror image transferware...and paint .

I'm fairly certain the decor is a decal. If you look at it under magnification, do you see dots or brush strokes? It is possible that the decal was highlighted with handpainting. If this is the case, the brush strokes are usually just at the edges of the petals.

BTW, the background appears to be airbrushed

My grandmother had a similar piece that she kept on her special serving cart in the dining room.
Not sure if she ever used it for anything specific.
I think it is pretty, has that shabby chic look to it, but don't use SC in your listing or the lady who trademarked that phrase will take issue -- for real.

As far as where to sell it, try Etsy or Ebay and see if you get any takers.
Have no idea on a price or maker. Lots of peeps on etsy buy these kind of dishes for weddings, showers etc even if they don't match the other pieces on their tables.

Well that is my 2 cents.

I have one of these bowls with 2 sides. Bought it, it didn't sell so just kept it because I like it. But I always thought this type of dish was used for serving things like egg salad, crab or lobster salad, maybe tuna. Place an iceberg head lettuce leaf in each side, egg salad or other goes on top, add spoons and serve. Some of them even come in the shape of a lobster. Very nice for ladies luncheon.

Here's another that looks identical in shape: leaves, handle and bottom, but in different colors, design.

My grandmother had several of these double handled porcelain dishes. She kept one on her dresser as a catch-all. There were a couple of others around her house used as candy dishes. If she was in need of extra serving dishs, I believe she was known to have use some for extra, surplus, relish dishes at a multi-table large gatherings.

She's got her work cut out for her. There are currently only 88,000+ items listed as shabby chic on eBay. At some point the term must become worthless as a descriptor.

I took another look at the link Ladybranch found and that example has a CT mark. The below is material I "borrowed" from the Kovels' site.

CT Germany was first part of a mark used by a company in Altwasser, Germany (now part of Walbrzych, Poland), in 1845. The mark was used by Carl Tielsch. The Hutschenreuther firm took over the company in 1918 and continued to use the CT. CT Germany was used by the Hutschenreuther firm even after the Altwasser factory, now part of Walbrzych, Poland, was nationalized by the Polish government.
